SIXTH GRADE MATH GRADING PROCEDURES The math grade will consist of class participation, class assignments, homework, vocabulary test, standard test, nine week test, and projects. Missing classroom assignment
When a student misses a classroom assignment, they have three days to make-up the assignment before receiving a “0”. For this example, let’s say that the assignment is due on a Monday.
Student does not turn in assignment on Monday, they are told to return the assignment on Tuesday and they will receive a 10% deduction.
Student does not turn in assignment on Tuesday; they are given a home referral by the teacher. The student must bring a parent and the assignment to school on Wednesday to meet with the Principal or Asst. Principal. They will receive a 20% deduction.
Student does not turn in the assignment on Wednesday; they are told to return the assignment on Thursday and they will receive a 30% deduction.
After Wednesday, the student will receive a “0” for that assignment.
Re-testing
Students that score below a 70 on a major test will be given a re-test
All re-tests will be administered every Monday.
The exact time of the re-test, i.e. after-school, during electives, etc. will be determined by the classroom teacher.
If the student misses the re-test due to an excused absence, the student and the teacher will meet to discuss when the re-test will be administered.
If the student misses the re-test due to an unexcused absence, they will not be able to re-test and will receive the original test score.
The student will have one opportunity to improve their test score. The highest possible score they can receive is a 70. Example, a student scores a 52 on the first test, and then an 87 on the re-test, the student will receive a 70. If a student scores a 52, then a 68, the student receives a 68.
Nine Week Test At the end of each nine weeks an assessment of all material will be given. This score will be averaged in as part of their nine weeks report card grade. These scores are also reported
